Pink sequins

Went to a fabulous hen party last night. Cocktail masterclass, pink fizz, 3-course meal, salsa dance lesson and karaoke – what more could a girl want? Hen nights call for a bit of sparkle so I dug out my pink sequinned jacket (in a last-minute outfit change I swapped the grey tee for a black vest):

Two nights out in a row have done me in! An afternoon chilling out on the sofa beckons…

Swedish Hasbeens

I’d heard the hype about Swedish Hasbeens but wasn’t a massive fan of their clog styles. However I’d fancied a pair of loafers for a while and realised that a heeled version would be more flattering so jumped at the chance to use my Sarenza ambassador code towards this pair:

To be honest, despite the hefty price tag I wasn’t expecting all that much. But – OMG! – when they arrived I realised instantly that they were by far the best quality shoes I’d ever owned. The box they come in actually contains a little card telling you how to look after them so that future generations can enjoy them (still not cute enough to make me want to create mini-me’s though – they can go to our gorgeous new family addition, wee baby Abigail, courtesy of cousins D & H – well done guys!).

They were super comfy from the first wear and – much as I love to claim that the high street can do everything brilliantly – it’s such a pleasure to own such a well-crafted pair of shoes. Absolutely love ‘em.

Worn here with a Toppers floral print dress and accessorised with a glass of Willowglen Shiraz Cabernet 2009 (c£8 a bottle, great spicy flavour – seek it out at Oddbins!):

Have a fantastic weekend.

A Streetcar Named Desire

Last week I was lucky enough to be invited to the press night of Scottish Ballet’s A Streetcar Named Desire. Scottish Ballet have a very positive and inclusive attitude towards bloggers. As a result, I’ve attended a few productions over the past year. This one was exceptional though.

Whenever I go to the ballet, I find the dancing, costumes and scenery beautiful, but I’m not always engaged emotionally. Streetcar was a totally different experience. From the very first moment the dancers came on stage I was completely caught up in the story. It was modern, minimalist, brave, raw and totally captivating.

It really was a world-class performance (and made me proud to be Scottish). If you’re interested in catching it, tour dates are here.

Oh, and what did I wear? I went straight from work so wore a Zara cardi with gold sparkle through it, black trousers and a simple vest:

Do go and see Streetcar if you get the chance.

Track pants

Had a great shopping day in Edinburgh with my friend Vicky yesterday. I found the H&M leather pencil skirt I’ve been looking for for ages and Vicky got - amongst other things – these fab silky, slouchy track pants from Reiss which look fantastic on:

Might have to get a pair too!

Easy outfit

Easy peasy, thrown-on outfit of a few favourites – pale pink blouse, black skinnies and leather jacket. Comfy and not too efforty:

Perfect for the weekend. Have a good one!

Black suede jackets

I’ve seen a few bloggers raving about the Zara black suede fringed jacket but I tried it on and it was a really awkward and unflattering fit on me:

Love this suede and leather bomber jacket from Warehouse though. The shape looks perfect:

20% off Warehouse just now if you use the code ‘April showers’ – very tempting!

Grey marl top

I’ve liked grey marl sweatshirts and T-shirts ever since I saw Flashdance, goodness only knows how many years ago. This short-sleeved version from Zara has a longer length cream chiffon layer underneath and a slashed back:

Hope you’ve had a great Easter. I’ve had a lovely family day of egg painting/rolling and chocolate overdosing. Now for a quiet glass of red and – if I like it – the first book of The Hunger Games trilogy digested in one sitting – bliss!
