Anchor dress

There was a change of outfit plan on Christmas day and I decided to wear this dress that I bought from Oasis recently. I love the tea dress shape, the tie that nips in the waist and the cute anchor print:

Luckily it was long enough to protect my modesty when see-sawing with my nephews!

Dress: Oasis / Cardigan: Gap / Ankle boots: River Island

The long and short of it: part 1

Ordered this asymmetric skirt online from Zara last week. When I first tried it on I thought ‘Good lord, no!’ because I’m not used to tight skirts but it’s growing on me.

Since it’s stretchy it’s really comfy to wear, making it ideal for Boxing Day. Pass the chocolates!

Christmas jumper

The Crimbo jumper – it has to be done. This is what I’m planning to wear on Christmas day. It’s cosy, ideal for lounging around in and black, so hides the stains from being around small children/lots of red wine! As these things go, it’s reasonably subdued:

I like anything with a star print so am optimistic that it will still be in favour come 1st Jan.

This will be my last post before Christmas so there’s just one thing left to say…

Have a good one!

Rock me

When MotelRocks got in touch and invited me to pick out an item to wear during the party season I did hesitate for a few moments to wonder if it was right for me – bearing in mind their typical customer is (significantly!) younger than I am.

I looked at their range though, liked it a lot and decided to go for it with this leopard print playsuit:

It’s a good fit, although quite short. But it can be teamed with black opaques to tone it down a notch. I love it already and can see it becoming a night out staple.

Thanks to Motel Rocks for sending me this fab item.

At the ballet

Last night I was lucky enough to be invited to see Sleeping Beauty as a guest of Scottish Ballet. When I was a student I worked as an usherette at the Edinburgh Playhouse (a job I loved) and since then I’ve had a real soft spot for traditional style theatres.

The Theatre Royal in Glasgow is one of my favourites so it was lovely to be there for such a festive evening. The dancing, costumes are music were all fab:

I wore my sequinned jumper, velvet shorts and a two-tone fake fur coat from Asos (have been keeping an eye on this one and as it’s now reduced to £56 I decided to strike!):

Oh, and a reindeer ring from a Greggs cupcake - courtesy of my lovely new boss (we had Prosecco and cakes in the office before heading out for the work Christmas do last week):

This ring has made me just as happy as a bling-tastic creation from Tiffanys. Guess I’m easily pleased!

Thanks to Ann for organising a great evening.

J’adore inappropriate slogans

Popped into Topshop this week for the first time in ages. What I wanted to buy – this ‘J’adore French boys’ jumper, super cute but totally age inappropriate for someone of my advanced years (cougarville!):

What I actually bought – this sequin shoulder jumper, reduced from £46 to £25 in the pre-Christmas sale:

The closer we get to Christmas, the more sequins I intend to wear!

Take10: House of Fraser dress

For this month’s Take10 challenge House of Fraser offered to pick out a dress for each of us. Here’s what they selected for us all (unfortunately there’s only nine of us this month due to a mix-up with Ellie‘s dress):

HoF%20Collage

They chose really well for me. This black lace Pied A Terre dress is right up my street and required minimal accessorising. The dress is well-lined and the quality feels lovely.

I can see myself getting loads of wear out of this over the party season.

Thanks to House of Fraser for sponsoring the challenge and Sherin for making the collage.
