Gold bag

I’ve been using this little bucket bag constantly since it arrived a week or so back in my latest Sarenza order. It’s a really dinky size and the fabric is quite unusual – it’s made from wetsuit material:

Yesterday’s outfit – took advantage of the great weather to escape the city and head for the bonny banks of Loch Lomond with a friend:

The Drovers Inn, my new favourite pub. A place that’s full of character (and ghost stories – not sure I’d want to spend the night there!):

Charmed

I had something to exchange at Debenhams (different story, one for next week) so spent a bit of time browsing the store to find something I liked. It was a smallish branch so there wasn’t a huge choice but I found two blouses I liked in the Warehouse concession (they seem to have a head start on other brands in terms of getting the sale stuff cleared out and new stock in).

This is the one I went for. Warm pinky-beige colour, charm print, frilly Peter Pan collar – what’s not to like?

But I have to admit to being seriously tempted by this blingier one:

What do you think? Did I make the right choice?

Surprised by sunshine

It was so warm at the weekend that I finally managed to cast aside the heavy coats I’ve been wearing all year. I’ve been after a lightweight cream cardi for ages and found this one in Warehouse on Saturday. I like the loose fit and kimono-style sleeves:

On Sunday I found what I thought to be a shady spot in the garden of my local coffee house, shrugged it off and settled down to read the papers. A couple of hours later I was rather red – not as shady a place as I’d thought!

Since then I’ve been wearing this cardi to work every day – partly to ward off the evil office air con and partly to cover up my ridiculously stripey red and white arms! It has earned its keep so far.

PS I know we should wear factor 15 (at least) every day but, come on, this is Scotland and we’re just not used to seeing the sun!

Snakeskin

Top of my autumn/winter wishlist is a pair of snakeskin print skinny jeans (keeping an eye on Gap for them). In the meantime I’m making do with a vest, teamed with Cheap Monday black  jeans (I’ve expanded my collection so can wear them every day!) and really comfy gold ballet pumps that I got for a tenner in the Office sale a few years ago:

It’s been an amazingly warm weekend in Glasgow. Some brave souls even hung their washing out to dry in the sunshine:

Hope you’ve had a lovely weekend.

The price is right

I first bought this Zara jumper for £30 a few months ago. Got it home, tried it on and decided I didn’t have £30 worth of love for it so it went back to the shop.

Last week I found it in the sale for £13 and decided that was an acceptable price to pay. The Zara sale’s not up to much in the first week or two (£130 leather jacket reduced to £120 – that’s most definitely not what I call a bargain) but, a few weeks in, the reductions are much better. Although for knitwear you have to be prepared to have a good rummage through the loaded jumble sale style tables.

If you find something you’ve had your eye on in the sale do you snap it up straight away or hold your nerve and wait for further reductions? Let me know if you have any sale shopping tips.

Motilo social shopping

Today I was asked to review the Motilo site, which I was keen to do as I’ve been interested in the idea of social shopping for a while but wasn’t quite sure how it all worked. Motilo combines social networking (of which I’m a big fan) with e-commerce (of which I’m a huge fan!) allowing you to shop online in real-time with your friends, build and share outfits, then buy the things you’ve found.

This really appealed to me as I have friends that I love to shop with but – due to not living in the same city – can’t always meet up with regularly in real life (my friend Vicky and I have been guilty of spending rather a lot of time emailing each other links to things we’re thinking of buying and giving feedback – not during working hours I hasten to add!).

Motilo aren’t a retailer as such – they act as an affiliate and have a team of stylists who select clothes to feature from lots of other sites. You don’t have to log in to view the site, but if you want to create an outfit you sign in using your Facebook account details, which makes it quick and easy to do. Creating an outfit was pretty intuitive - clear navigation and drag ‘n’ drop functionality.

Here’s the look I created (the pics could do with being a bit bigger I feel, but you get the gist):

Since I’ve no friends on Motilo yet (sob), I wasn’t sure how to chat online about my choices but you can email the outfit picture to people as well. Overall, it was quite a fun experience although the brands that are stocked currently are high end (the leather top I put in my outfit costs a whopping £815).

The site’s currently in beta, with the full launched planned for October. It will be interesting to see how it develops (and how the online/video chat works) and whether they expand to include more high street brands.

In the meantime, they’re running a competition to win a fabulous Mulberry bag – you can find information about it on their website and Facebook page. You can also keep up-to-date with them on Twitter.

Have you ever tried social shopping? If so, let me know what your experience has been.
