Nur restaurant
Last Saturday my parents came through from Edinburgh for the day (to set me up with a Freeview box, seeing as I’d lost all my channels in the digital switchover – yes, I’m a technophobe, but gotta have ‘Enders and Corrie!).
We had lunch at Nur, an Egyptian restaurant on Bridge Street in Glasgow (2 mins from the underground stop). It’s a family business, run by a lovely Scottish lady and her Egyptian husband, who’s in charge of the cooking.
We were given a table in the loungy mezzanine area, which would make a great venue for a private party. The low seating, jewel-coloured cushions and lighting were lovely.
We ordered a range of mezze dishes and a tagine to share. I don’t normally take photos of food in restaurants (honest!) but couldn’t resist a pic of the pyramid rice!
I wore my new Zara coat – a sale buy from last week. It’s ligher than my wool winter coat, which I refuse to wear during July and August - no matter how cold it is! It’s a classic style – double-breasted with gold buttons for a bit of a military feel – so I should get years of wear from it:
Overall, we had a wonderful time at Nur. The food and service were fantastic. It’s BYOB so really good value for money. Our bill came to just £33 for an amazing feast for 3 people. If you live in Glasgow, do try it out.
PS A few pics from my holiday in Egypt 2 years ago, just because it makes me so happy to look at them!
Have a great weekend.
