Happy Hogmanay

The sequinned jacket I’ve been after for a while was half price on the River Island website and available in my size – happy days! Thanks to Claire for letting me know it had gone into the sale.

As this is my last post of 2010, I’d like to thank you for your support this year. I really appreciate people taking the time to read and comment (I read every one, they still make my day!).

Wishing you a happy Hogmanay and health, happiness and love in 2011.

Cheers!

Winter coat

Hope you had a lovely Christmas.

This post pretends to be about my new winter coat, which was reduced to £30 in the River Island sale (bargain, particularly as I’d liked it when it was full price). However, it’s really an excuse to bore you – I mean, dazzle you – with pictures of how beautiful my hometown of Edinburgh is at this time of year…

Let me know if you’ve managed to snap up any sale bargains.

Beaded jacket

This is an outfit from a recent night out – a beaded jacket and leather mini, quite dressy for me! I’m currently in love with the jacket as it’s so delicate and pretty:

This will be my last post before Christmas – hope you have a brilliant time.

Merry Christmas!

Take10 challenge: Wildfox t-shirt

This month’s Take10 challenge is based around a Wildfox T-shirt. A warm welcome to Paula from PinkBow and Ellie from Pretty Much Penniless who join the gang this month.

This top isn’t my usual style – I don’t like the contrast colour round the V-neck and I’m not a fan of branded things with logos. Saying that, the quality of it is so good that it feels lovely on. As usual, I couldn’t resist adding some sequins (and wine!):

Thanks to Wildfox for sponsoring this month’s challenge and to Sabine for making the collage.

Hungry like the wolf

It’s become a bit of an annual tradition for my friend Susan and I to meet up for Christmas lunch at The Horseshoe Inn in Eddleston in the Scottish Borders.

There’s nothing in Eddleston other than the inn, a few houses and a phone box, which is part of its charm. It’s only a few miles along the road from Peebles (where Susan lives) but feels miles away from everything.

Although there’s a formal restaurant part, we always book a table in the cosy bar area. The menu’s the same and has a strong French influence. This time I had game terrine, followed by salmon fishcakes with French fries – perfection!

Enjoying a glass of mulled wine in the lounge. I’m wearing a graphic print sweater from Gap. The wolf design looks quite subtle in real life, but very pronounced on film!

My favourite phone box in the whole wide world (apart from the one in Local Hero!):

If you’re ever in the Borders, do pop into the Horseshoe. It’s a really special place.

Bedshaped

This was the outfit I’d originally planned to wear to the Arcade Fire gig. It was love at first sight when I saw this open-fronted blousey/jackety thing in River Island but it just didn’t feel right on (plus with all this leopard print I’m in danger of becoming a caricature of myself!):

I got a second opinion from my friend (and patient photographer) who said ‘Well, there’s no warmth in it.’ I’m not even going to comment on that!

Its one redeeming factor was that the style and shape of it reminded me of the item most beloved of my idol (and the woman I aspire to be). Yep, the bedjacket:

It’s going to be returned at the weekend – unless you think I’d regret it?

Arcade Fire

A few pics from last night’s Arcade Fire concert. I wore a sparkly top from Urban Outfitters with shorts. Changed my shoes for biker boots at the last minute as I thought these suede ones would probably have got ruined!

It was a brilliant gig and the encore was the best I’ve ever experienced. Loved every moment.
