Sale or return: aviator jacket
Help, I’ve been brainwashed by a trend!
I’ve never liked aviator jackets. Even the images from the Burburry Prorsum show weren’t enough to sway me (gorgeous though all the clothes were):
Strange then that last week I found myself grabbing this from the Topshop ‘Buy it now or regret it on your deathbed’ rail as if my life depended upon it:
It was the very last one, my size and only £58 (it’s not leather) – as opposed to £350 for the ASOS one or gazillions for the Burberry.
I can’t decide whether I genuinely like it or have become convinced it’s a must-have after seeing the style everywhere! In its favour, I do think it looks good on other people (*waves to Gem*).
What do you think – keep it or return it? Log your vote, I’m counting on you to help me make my mind up!

Hmm, I quite like it, but then again, that may be because I’ve been seeing it everywhere. Try putting some outfits around it and wear it once or twice. If you still don’t like it, then return it.
Having done the trend twenty years ago I probably won’t be indulging myself a second time round but having seen the spread in last weeks’ Guardian the one I’m most tempted by is the Matalan one:

I really like it as it’s a pretty versatile option as opposed to the ones with the huge collars. Try it with a few things and if you feel comfortable in it then I say keep it! xx
I’ve just had a look at the link Vix provided and I must say, with the exception of the Matalan one which is lovely, yours is much better and more reasonably priced than any of the others.
I’m torn on the whole aviator jacket thing – I can’t quite love them but they do look great on other people. I think you’ll look fab in that one but if you’re not sure, take it back.

i say keep it, im really fussy about these kinda jackets but ur one has the perfect fitted neat shape and not too big a collar and no fur around the cuffs which i personally hate.. i think this will be versatile! can u take the collar off it you wanted? x
I actually bought this one from Topshop (the real leather one in the brown shade) but I would much prefer it in black so I’ll be returning mine. My ultimate is the Acne one but I’ll just keep dreaming about it, as it’s way too expensive! The plus of the Topshop one is that the collar is removable so when you get sick of aviator, shed the shearling and say hello biker chic x
It’s not my style, but if you think you’ll really wear it, then I say keep it!

I like the design, but since it’s not leather I probably wouldn’t keep it. I bet you could find something similar thrifting or at a vintage store. : )
i love it. ive always been a fan of leather jackets but they just don’t keep me warm enough.. so this would be the perfect jacket!

Ahh Sarah, I know how it feels. It’s the miraculous hypnosis which suddenly makes you think ‘This is what I’ve always been looking for’. The jacket looks great in the picture, but in the end it comes down to how the fabric feels and if you feel comfortable wearing it.
i love it but if you think it´s not you or doesn´t fit your style then return it. because you will not be writing this post anyway if you were sure.
maybe another girl will seriously be thanking you for returning it! *believes in karma* LOL
or maybe it´ll grow on you and then you´ll regret that you´ve returned it!

Keep keep, definitely keep. In two months, they’ll be sold out everywhere and you’ll realise too late that you can’t live without the aviator trend! OR, if that doesn’t happen, sell it on Ebay for 3 times as much – it’s a win win situation

ohhhhh. have you decided yet? i actually really want this jacket. i’ve seen it on a few people and have totally swooned over it. i’d keep it personally. but i totally know that feeling of giving into a hype and then snapping out of it and thinking, ‘i didn’t even really want that?!’… if you keep it, please show a photo of yourself in it! xx
@style crusader – I’ve just fallen in love with a Topshop leather skirt so the jacket might be sacrificed in favour of that.
I know double denim’s been very fashionable over the summer, but I don’t think I could carry off double leather! xx
My brother was the aviator jacket owner last time around (I had the distressed leather mini), and now it’s *my* turn to have the jacket, I think!
Hopefully he’ll not go for the mini….
