Cos I like it

Please forgive the corny title – I couldn’t resist!

Cos (the grown-up part of the H&M group) recently opened their first Scotland store in Glasgow’s Princes Square. I popped in yesterday evening for a peek at the autumn collection and was pretty impressed – the quality seemed great and the prices were lowered than I expected.

This was the dress I fell in love with. I remember thinking it was a good price for the design and quality, but can’t quite remember what it was (I may have had a glass of wine or two!). Think it was £79, but don’t quote me on that!

Another fave was this simple off-white waisted dress:

And this monochrome bow dress:

And here I am, not wearing  Cos (although I did buy some sequinned shorts, which I’ll get pics of over the weekend). I’m wearing my bargain £14.99 H&M lace dress, which has become a wardrobe staple since I bought it a few weeks ago.

Finally, a wee shout out to my blog-friend  Zanah  who seems to have brought the good weather all the way from California to Scottieland. Here’s the proof - blue sky seen in downtown Glasgow yesterday:

Happy Friday -  have a fab weekend and may the sun shine wherever you are!

Winter wishlist

This winter I’m going to try to be a bit more planned about what I buy. I definitely need a new coat and boots (last year’s favourites let in water, which is no fun when you live in rainy Glasgow). Here’s what’s on the list so far.

1. Faux fur gilet

Ok, so I’ve cheated a bit and bought this already!  Inspired by this Topshop AW10 press image, I bought the shorter one below (also from Topshop).

2. Camel coat

I’ve had a black winter coat for the last few years, so it’s time for a change. Camel’s the colour I’ll go for, possibly a cape style like this Topshop one.

3. Sheepskin-lined boots

I love these boots. They’re by Burberry Prorsum though, so I’ll need to find a high street version.

4. Leather shorts

Not sure if I’m serious about these! I do really like them, but would I be brave enough to leave the house in them? (Leather shorts by Urban Code at Asos.)

5. Little black dress

Love the pleating on the front and back of this dress from Warehouse.

All the winter stock’s starting to come into the shops now, so I’m going to look out for a coat (feels a bit mad to buy a winter coat in July but you need to get in early to get the good stuff).

What’s on your winter wishlist?

Introducing Project Take10

One of the best things about blogging is the community aspect - meeting lots of lovely people and sharing ideas and inspiration. To build on this, a few of us have got together to form Project Take10.

We’re a group of 10 fashion bloggers who have joined together to share our style. We’ll be running regular challenges where we all style the same item from our sponsors, each showing our take on it. We’ll also be clothes swapping to show how we’d wear each other’s fashion favourites.

Project Take10

You’ll probably be familiar with most of these lovely ladies, but the Take10 girls are (clockwise from top centre):

Jen from A Little Bird Told Me, Leia from Leia’s Delights, MJ from Dreaming Spires and Old Car Tyres, Vicki from Magpie Girl, Shini from Park & Cube, Sabine from Psynopsis, Adele from Molto Curiosa, Sherin from HiFashion and Saskia from Not Just Medical.

Our first style challenge will be coming in a few weeks – follow us on Facebook and Twitter to keep updated on our plans.

Trembling Bells gig

Went to see Trembling Bells with my friend Joan last night.

What to wear to a folk-rock gig? Well, I opted for a dress that looks like a nightie, a faux fur gilet and jeans (all that was missing was the tambourine!).

Booze and fairy lights – these are a few of my favourite things!

A great gig – definitely worth a listen if you’re not familiar with their stuff.

Lace dress

A few more pics from last weekend in Chester. In keeping with my friends’ antique-filled house my dress really should be vintage, but it’s not – it was £45 from Warehouse. I like the smock style of it and the blouson sleeves.

Look how comfortable I am in that luxurious setting! I’m obviously to the manor born – where did it all go wrong?!

Books & booze

River Island always seem to bring out sparkly things for their sale that I’ve never seen instore or on the website. In the January sale I got a black and gold lurex cardi (never worn yet as it screams Christmas night out) and last week I found a cream sequinned jacket (reduced from £50 to £30).

Wore the jacket for a shopping trip round Chester last weekend. It was far too hot a day for it really, but  when I get something new it has to be worn immediately!

Had a chat with author Caroline Smailes in Waterstones. Her new novel is beautifully written and very moving (and comes highly recommended by Chris Cleave).
